So Who Exactly is Canelo Alvarez?
Canelo Alvarez is a Mexican professional boxer who is the current unified WBA (Super), WBC, Ring magazine, and lineal middleweight champion.
Canelo was born on July 18th, 1990 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He has an older brother named Rigoberto who is also a professional boxer. Canelo’s nickname is El Canelo and he has many nicknames like “The Golden Boy” or “The Ring King.”
He became interested in boxing when he was just six years old and his father took him to a boxing gym to work out with him. In 2002, he won his first gold medal at the Junior Olympics for boxing when he was just 14 years old.
